In the new year, you will probably see quite a few changes at OSHA including a more aggressive enforcement and increased attention to musculoskeletal disorders known as MSD.
There are those in the industry sector who are concerned that by reporting such specific information it will lead to more in depth changes and set new mandatory workplace ergonomics standards.
The issue of workplace ergonomics is not a new issue within OSHA. It was addressed during the Clinton administration with some outlines, but during the Bush administration all of that work was laid aside and now are being revisited.
By collecting such valuable information regarding MSD, this can lead to reassessing safety conditions nationally and at individual workplaces.
Collecting this data is believed to be the first step in reevaluating workplace standards.
